Healthcare guarantee

Healthcare guarantee, Uppsala County Council
This is what the appointment and healthcare guarantee means:

0 You should have contact with primary care or the medical advice line 1177 the same day that you seek help.

7 If primary care feel that you need to see a doctor, an appointment should be offered within a maximum of 7 days.

90 If you are referred to a specialist, an appointment should be offered within 90 days.

90 After a specialist doctor has made a decision about your treatment, you should be offered the treatment within 90 days.

The county council health service aims to treat patients within the guarantee period. Most patients can be offered treatment in our county within the guarantee period, but for certain appointments and treatments, the waiting period is longer.

What happens if you can’t get treatment within the guarantee period?
If the county council cannot offer a specialist appointment or treatment within the time period, you can approach the Healthcare Guarantee Unit, where you will be given help in getting treatment from another care provider. The Unit helps you the patient to find an alternative care provider if Uppsala County Council is unable to offer an appointment with a specialist, or treatment within 90 days. The Healthcare Guarantee Unit is staffed by experienced nurses, who can provide information about the healthcare guarantee, and patient choice within the health service.

Patients, close relatives and healthcare staff are all welcome to contact the unit.
