Taxi or special vehicle
Who is entitled to travel?
Patients who cannot travel by public transport or patient travel bus due to medical reasons may travel by taxi. You can also use a taxi if there is no regular public transport where you live, or if the waiting time is more than two hours. You can seek advice from the booking centre.
Taxi journeys can be reimbursed regardless of medical condition if the time saved is two hours for a single journey compared with public transport.
You may travel by taxi home from your appointment if there are medical reasons and if the journey has been approved by healthcare staff. In order to travel home from an appointment by taxi, the healthcare staff must book the journey or provide a completed care provider certificate, which you can then show to the taxi driver.
