Fees and prices

You will find information here on patient fees and the high-cost regulations that apply.

High-cost regulations for outpatient healthcare and medical treatment
You do not need to pay more than SEK 900 for outpatient appointments over a twelve-month period, taken from the first appointment. In order to receive an exemption card (frikort), you must either save the receipts or have the amounts entered on a high-cost card (högkostnadskort).

You can get an exemption card at most health clinics. If a parent or parents have several children under the age of 18 in their joint care, the children are jointly exempt from fees when the total costs amount to SEK 900.

High-cost regulations for medicine
You pay according to a sliding scale, where the biggest cost is at the start. You do not need to pay more than SEK 1,800 in total over a twelve-month period, taken from the first purchase.

Children in the same family under the age of 18 are counted as one.
There is more information available at the state-owned pharmacy, Apoteket.

Influenza and pneumonia vaccinations
The fee for influenza and pneumonia vaccinations is included under the high-cost protection scheme for healthcare and medical treatment fees for people over the age of 65, and for people within certain high-risk groups in accordance with instructions from medical officers of infectious diseases.
